30.06.2003

PUERTO RICO Last month the U.S. territory's Supreme Court ruled
that homosexuals who are abused by their partners are not entitled to
protection under Puerto Rico's domestic violence law. In a four to three
decision, the judges ruled that the law was not intended to apply to
homosexuals, reports the Associated Press. The ruling came in the case of
Leandro Ruiz Martinez, who was charged with aggravated abuse, a criminal
charge, for beating his domestic partner, Juan J. del Valle.
